Caribbean Blue Tatted Lace Bracelet

Caribbean Blue Tatted Lace Bracelet

$18.00

This lightweight bracelet is hand-tatted with a beautiful, vibrant blue crochet cotton.  It has an easy to use,  silver gray macrame sliding closure, adorned with light blue and gray glass beads.  The sliding closure makes it adjustable, from the smallest size of 7 inches opening up to 12 inches.  The tatting has been stiffened with starch to help keep its form.

Tatting is a technique for handcrafting a durable lace by making a series of knots and loops.  Tatting is traditionally made with a shuttle, although it has become popular to use a needle to craft this beautiful lace.  Tatting is used to make lace edging, doillies, collars and other decorative pieces.  The lace is made with a pattern of rings and chains formed from a series of half-hitch knots, called double stitches, over a core thread.  Picots are added to the pattern both for construction and decorative purposes.  Tatting dates to the early 19th century.  It is also known as frivolite.
